Formerly a cattle barn, this converted byre is a true rural delight. Situated 12 miles from the nearest village, this wonderfully remote yet easily accessible location totally belies the state of the art refurbishment, completed in September ’09. This compact cottage is on two levels, upstairs being reached by a spiral staircase. It exudes lots of natural light and delivers a style and charm all of its own . Whilst we welcome dogs we ask that they only take up residence in the large adjoining kennels which have an indoor and outdoor area, with a heat lamp to keep them warm in Winter.
Nesting kestrels, peregrins, oyster catchers, herons and house martins abound here - a real ornithologists dream. There are trout and salmon as well as occasionally otters in the nearby river, and many species of butterfly and moth. There is lots to do here for the outdoor enthusiast including idyllic woodland walks, fascinating cycle rides, fishing and golf. Nearby Drumlanrig Castle is a must to visit with extensive walks in the grounds, mountain bike trails, shops and a calendar of seasonal activities.
